There is another member of Aunt Artie’s family besides Carlos who should be mentioned because he relates to Reed and Deva, Linda’s mom and dad. That other person was Aunt Artie’s son Terrel Durham. He was a handsome man but I do not have a picture of him. . This younger son grew up to become a minister, and it. was he who performed the ceremony when my brother Reed and Deva were married in 1948. This was shortly after Reed had been discharged from the army.
And there is yet one other person related to Aunt Artie and you may already know him. He shows up at our reunions quite often. He is Aunt Artie’s step son, Jack Denny Johnson. He and Danny, (Ernest and Ginny’s son), have something in common. Danny recognized Jack Denny from years before when he had been the opposing coach when Danny played basketball for Liberty High School against Houstonville. I bet you have seen Jack Denny at the gatherings. We are lucky to have an up-to-date direct connection to Aunt Artie, Uncle Elvin, and Mr. George Johnson. Some time maybe Danny can tell some other wonderful stories about this connection.
In the picture above, (1996) L to R Aaron Floyd in cap; Reed Williams, and Jack Denny Johnson. There’s the old Maple trees again. . I don’t know the lady walking toward the porch. I hope someone recognizes her. The second picture below is very recent. Jack Denny and my brother Ronald Williams was taken around 2015 or so.
Be careful, beloved people.
